Brown Wins!

The Boston Globe reports that Martha Coakley has called Scott Brown to concede, according to a Brown aide.

...

Her concession marks the most dramatic political upset in a generation, one that will be plumbed for meaning and spun over the next few days.

Obama hears but he is not moved:

President Barack Obama plans a combative response if, as White House aides fear, Democrats lose Tuesday’s special Senate election in Massachusetts, close advisers say.

“This is not a moment that causes the president or anybody who works for him to express any doubt,” a senior administration official said. “It more reinforces the conviction to fight hard.”

He can fight but how many Democrats are willing to fall on his sword?:

A loss — or even a narrow victory — by the once-favored Coakley for the seat that the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy held for nearly half a century in this Democratic stronghold could signal big political problems for the president's party this fall when House, Senate and gubernatorial candidates are on the ballot nationwide.

Brown's victory is huge and Democrats will be paying attention.  Obama went to Massachusetts and was unable to turn the tide for Coakley.  He can ignore the result but he can't change it.

Blunder Woman in "freefall":

A new InsiderAdvantage poll conducted exclusively for POLITICO shows Republican Scott Brown surging to a nine-point advantage over Martha Coakley a day before Massachusetts voters trek to the ballot box to choose a new senator.

...

"I actually think the bottom is falling out," said InsiderAdvantage CEO Matt Towery, referring to Coakley's fall in the polls over the last ten days. "I think that this candidate is in freefall. Clearly this race is imploding for her."

It ain't over til it's over but Martha Coakley has reason to panic.  And if the race is imploding on her, she has herself to blame.  Her desperation led to some astonishing blunders, almost beyond belief.  Calling Red Sox great Curt Schilling a Yankee (good grief), telling Catholics they should not work in emergency rooms:

"You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.”

Wow.  She also found time to ridicule Scott Brown for campaigning at Fenway Park:

Coakley bristles at the suggestion that, with so little time left, in an election with such high stakes, she is being too passive.

“As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?’’ she fires back, in an apparent reference to a Brown online video of him doing just that.

Where does she campaign?:

Yes, you see, because jetting down to D.C. for a soiree in the warm glow of Big Pharma fatcats and lobbyists puts her so much more in touch with the folks in Massachusetts!

Speaking of Massachusetts, along the way her campaign managed to misspell it:

As U.S. Senate candidate Martha Coakley went on the attack Tuesday with a sharply-worded television ad attacking her Republican rival Scott Brown, the rush to production led to a misspelling of the state she hopes to represent in Washington.

Massachusetts Democrats are pretty desperate as well and showed there is no gutter they won't crawl into for a Senate seat:

This is absolutely brutal: Massachusetts Dems have dropped a mail piece accusing GOP Senate candidate Scott Brown of wanting hospitals to turn away “all” rape victims.

The mail piece — sent over by the Brown campaign — shows pictures of women who are supposed to have been raped, one of them in a wheelchair bent over with her head in her hands. It says: “1,736 WOMEN WERE RAPED IN MASSACHUSETTS IN 2008. SCOTT BROWN WANTS HOSPITALS TO TURN THEM ALL AWAY.”

That disgusting episode came on the heels of this one:

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee decided to “help” flailing Mass. Senate candidate Martha Coakley with a hard-hitting ad attacking GOP challenger Scott Brown’s opposition to the White House’s Cover Tim Geithner’s A** Tax and other illusions of financial reform.

Except that they got so carried away with the class warfare rhetoric they Photoshopped Brown in front of the World Trade Center, which, um, was destroyed by jihadists who share the same view of American “greed” as the DSCC does.

Michael Graham, writing for the Boston Herald, lists a few more of Martha's greatest hits and has decided that win, lose or draw, she is a loser.

Continuing with the "entertainers with more sense than Congress" theme here's a doozy:

Please tell Nancy Pelosi we're gonna do the hokey pokey...Gotta love it. Pelosi isn't listening, of course. Neither is Harry Reid (who stands a good change of losing his Senate seat in November). They are so determined to shove this down our throats they're forcing many of their own members to bail out and retire. Apparently the retiring Dems are too afraid of Pelosi and Reid - and Obama - to do the right thing and listen to their constituents:

Other than the H1N1 virus, the most contagious disease in our nation’s capital is retirement. The more Democrats that quit, the more others are also encouraged to hang it up.

The retirement bug is in full rein in DC. The week before Christmas saw three House Democrats from red districts retire (two from Tennessee and one from Kansas) — while a fourth, Parker Griffith of Alabama, became a Republican. With Dodd and Dorgan now leaving, expect blue legislators from red states to start falling ever more quickly.

Seeing Democrats stand up and (in effect) admit defeat is a bit like watching repentant sinners confessing at a revival meeting: One outburst triggers another.

Plus, the specter of Democratic leaders running from having to face their constituents again simply adds to voters’ suspicion that something may be rotten in the party and in its congressional delegation.

For now, though, the Democrats still have the votes.  By the time these sure losers complete their little hit-and-run Obamacare could be the law of the land.  Is there any chance at all this blatant power grab can be stopped?  It would take the "mother of all upsets" to do it:

Politics has often been called the “Art of the Possible.”  We have seen many a strange thing happen in the history of American elections.  But nothing would be more unexpected, or more immediately helpful to the American people, than if Republican State Senator Scott Brown could pull of the mother of all upsets and capture the special election for Ted Kennedy's Senate seat on January 19th.  A Brown victory would deny the Democrats the 60 votes necessary to shove through the takeover of the nation's health care system.

It is also the only opportunity for Americans to have any say what so ever on the pending bill.  Since the White House has weaseled out of its promise of transparency and Congressional leadership is holding the details closer than their ATM pin numbers, Americans can make a statement by helping Scott Brown in this race.  If Brown has the resources to make a competitive media buy in the next two weeks, he could close the gap.  Even if he falls short, the message will be unmistakable and could make other Democrats even more skittish about this albatross of a bill.  Opponents of Obamacare across the country can easily toss a few dollars to Brown via his web site and it is the best way that Americans can actually prevent passage of the bill being crafted behind locked doors at this very moment. The Congress and Senate, for the most part, are peopled by unscrupulous, greedy, self-serving career politicians who are so out of touch with the people who elected them it's a wonder they can even find their ways home.

Thugs like Hugo Chavez, Mahmoud Ahamadinejad, and Kim Jong-il thumb their noses at America and correctly perceive that Obama is a weak president who is swimming in waters way over his head and refuses to even wear a life preserver, by surrounding himself with people who have had experience on the world stage.

The attorney general is either certifiably insane or as dumb as a box of rocks to think that anything even remotely good could come out of moving the trials of bloodthirsty enemies of America to New York.

I'll take dumb as a box of rocks for $1,000.  But certifiably insane is good too.

Mark my words, folks. If Congress allows this folly, something bad is going to happen. Why Eric Holder wants to take a chance on this completely baffles me.

It really is all about control - and power.  The time for hand-wringing is over:

People, we have lost our government and if something isn't done very soon, we are going to lose our country, and I don't think I can bear that.

When Congress and the President ignore the wishes of the people and pass legislation that the majority of citizens are against, we no longer have a republic. We have a medusa-headed dictatorship, not designed to serve the people but for the proliferation of power. Power detrimental to the United States of America.
