Deborah Jeane Palfrey was found dead today at her mother's home in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Police were called to the home of DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey's mother on Thursday to investigate her apparent suicide.
Police have confirmed that the dead person is Palfrey who was 52.
Palfrey was convicted of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering on April 15. She was to be sentenced July 24. The guilty verdict carried a maximum 55 year prison sentence. According to this report, she left a suicide note but police did not disclose its contents.
***Update 4:01PM CT***
One of the escort service employees was former University of Maryland, Baltimore County, professor Brandy Britton, who was arrested on prostitution charges in 2006. She committed suicide in January before she was scheduled to go to trial.
Last year, Palfrey said she, too, was humiliated by her prostitution charges, but said: “I guess I’m made of something that Brandy Britton wasn’t made of.”
Palfrey's body was found in a shed near her Mother's home:
...Police said she left at least two suicide notes and other writings to her family in a notebook, but they did not disclose their contents. The mother found Palfrey, who had apparently hanged herself with nylon rope from the shed's ceiling.
Tarpon Springs Police say no question it was suicide:
"It was her, and she's deceased," Frank Ruggiero, a public information officer with the Tarpon Springs Police Department, told FOXNews.com. "There's no question that it was a suicide."
That conclusion was possibly based on finding the suicide notes but it seems a bit premature to say there's "no question".
