Mr. President, I think Senator Sessions has read the bill. And he's found some loopholes:
After many U.S. senators got earfuls from constituents about an immigration bill during their Memorial Day break, they'll vote Tuesday on more than a dozen amendments.
Alabama Republican Jeff Sessions remains a staunch opponent of the legislation. On Monday, he released a list of 20 loopholes he said would not establish a functioning immigration system in the future.
This bill is an absolute mess. I keep hearing about how Americans are demanding immigration reform, how any bill is better than no bill. I disagree. If the government can't enforce the immigration laws we have now, how on earth can they enforce this one? Ain't gonna happen.
Senator Sessions:
“I am deeply concerned about the numerous loopholes we have found in this legislation. They are more than technical errors, but rather symptoms of a fundamentally flawed piece of legislation that stands no chance of actually fixing our broken immigration system,” Sessions said. “Many of the loopholes are indicative of a desire not to have the system work.”
I'm deeply concerned, too Senator. Thank you for speaking out and backing your "empty political rhetoric" up with facts.
