Hillary wants 1 Billion taxpayer dollars to bailout homeowners

Hillary Clinton, the Junior Senator from New York, wants American taxpayers to fork over $1 Billion so that millions of irresponsible homeowners can avoid foreclosure:

DERRY, N.H. (AP) - Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday called for penalties against mortgage brokers who engage in predatory lending and a $1 billion federal fund to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.

It's Bush's fault:

``It's a combination now, of economic conditions that are not working for the majority of Americans, and unsavory practices that are undermining the dream of home ownership,'' Clinton said.

That's just plain stupid.  What happened is this:  Millions of Americans who surely knew they could not afford to own a home, voluntarily signed mortgage papers agreeing to pay "X" dollars per month.  Just like buying a car.  If you don't pay, they come get the car.  No doubt some of these lenders are sleazy and if they did not disclose that taxes and insurance would also have to be paid, that's dishonest.  But if you're capable of buying a house you should know there are taxes and insurance.  Read the fine print.  At any rate I'm not responsible for bad decisions made by others.  The unfortunate homeowners, who should have known better, should go find an apartment and learn from their mistakes.  If lenders were breaking any laws, they should be dealt with accordingly.
