News reporting from Iraq, fact or fiction? Bloggers report, you decide. It is getting more and more obvious that what's being reported as news is propaganda from the enemy, duly served up by the lazy, sloppy, stupid (take your pick) press. Or as Michelle puts it:
So, what's really going on in Iraq? Things are not good, but we cannot trust third-hand accounts from shady "spokesmen" funneled through dubious foreign stringers. working for the terrorist-sympathizing, anti-Bush press to give us the straight scoop.
Bloggers at Flopping Aces and Patterico's, have done a great job of exposing the phony fake fiction coming out of Iraq. (See also Michelle's relentless pursuit of the truth in AP reporting) The mainstream media continues its quest for irrelevance. Remember the Reuters doctored photos exposed by bloggers, and Green Helmet Guy?
I remember watching a trial on television, it might have been the O.J. trial, where the judge advised the jury if a witness is shown to have lied about one thing, they could assume he had lied about everything. Or something to that effect. The same can be said for the mainstream media. When so much of what is reported is shown to be either from dubious sources, hearsay, or outright lies, who knows what to believe. If bloggers can figure out how to double check the sources, surely the "professionals" could. But why bother? If the story fits their world view, don't ask questions.
People say believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. When it comes to news reporting on the war on terror, consider the source.
