What John Kerry said:
"You know, education -- if you make the most of it, you study hard and you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well.
"If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
What he said he meant to say:
"I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."
Yeah, right. And I have some beach front property in Nebraska I'd like to sell.
You know it should be easy for a man who's strong

Senator Kerry: I apologize to no one
"If anyone owes our troops in the field an apology, it is the President and his failed team and a Republican majority in the Congress that has been willing to stamp - rubber-stamp - policies that have done injury to our troops and to their families," Senator Kerry said.
"My statement yesterday - and the White House knows this full well - was a botched joke about the President and the President's people, not about the troops. I'm sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who can never be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.
Shameless.
And Senator, the botched joke is you and your nauseating press conference yesterday. And to suggest that you should be immune to criticism because you served in a war is foolish. You are a United States Senator and you represent millions of people in Massachusettes, many of whom did not serve in a war. And even though you don't represent me (thank goodness for small favors) your votes in the Senate affect me and I will criticize you if I damn well please.
"The White House's attempt to distort my true statement is a remarkable testament to their abject failure in making America safe."
Senator Kerry, your statement speaks for itself.
